PRESSURE TREATED WOOD
WHAT IS PRESSURE TREATED WOOD?
Pressure treated wood is a safe, long-lasting building material used in decks, fences, retaining walls, picnic tables, docks and other places where wood is exposed to rot, insect attack or other forms of biodeterioration. In the pressure-treatment process, lumber is loaded into a horizontal cylinder. The cylinder door is sealed, and a liquid preservative solution is pumped in. the pressure in the cylinder is then raised, forcing the preservative into the wood. At the end of the process, the excess treatment solution is pumped back to a storage tank for reuse. Because this treatment renders the wood useless as a food substance for fungi, termites and other wood-destroying agents, the wood is protected and is much less subject to deterioration.

Wolmanized® Outdoor® Wood Earns the Good Housekeeping Seal
Now, the most recognized brand of preserved wood has yet another award to its credit: having already earned a Building Products magazine's MVP Award and the endorsement of Hometime's Dean Johnson, Wolmanized Residential Outdoor wood has now earned the coveted Good Housekeeping Seal. The Good Housekeeping Seal is a limited warranty to consumers which promises replacement or refund if the product is defective. Effective August 1, Wolmanized Residential Outdoor wood joined an elite group of products which have earned the Seal.
Patricia Haegele, senior vice president and publisher of Good Housekeeping, said, "Consumers know that only products that have passed the tests and evaluations of the Good Housekeeping Institute are eligible to earn the Seal. Beyond the policies of manufacturers and retailers, consumers are reassured that they will get the product performance that they expect or Good Housekeeping will right the situation. We're delighted to welcome Wolmanized lumber into the Seal family of products."
Earning the Seal is a major coup for any product. According to company statistics, a full 95% of all women are aware of the Good Housekeeping Seal; it is viewed as a virtual stamp of approval, indicative of a superior product that has been tested and shown to perform as promised. Among all consumer emblems, the Good Housekeeping Seal is rated as the highest level of influence on products purchased; 91% of respondents acknowledge that the Seal influences their buying decisions. That's higher than Consumer Reports, the FDA, or Underwriters Laboratories.
"We are very excited and honored with this designation from Good Housekeeping," said Steve Snyder, vice president of sales and service at Arch Wood Protection, licensor of the brand. "Wolmanized Outdoor Wood is the flagship brand in our Wolmanized wood family of products, and the Seal confirms its value."
